Meet some of the topline sponsors of The Festive Vegan & Plant Powered Show, an unmissable event which will take place online on Saturday, November 28, running from 11am to 5pm.

Says Heidi Warricker, CEO of FVPPS: “We have been delighted with the fantastic response we have had from the industry and thrilled to partner with some of the most innovative and forward-thinking companies operating in the plant based and health space today.”

Key sponsors include plant-based milk pioneer Alpro; Unilever’s largest food brand Knorr; food awareness organisation ProVeg South Africa; South Africa’s leading fresh produce retailer Food Lover’s Market; B-well Foods, Wellness Warehouse, UCOOK SA, On The Green Side and The Redespresso Company while association partners are Beauty Without Cruelty, the South African Chefs Association, the South African Vegan Society and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Alpro is a pioneer when it comes to plant-based products having started in Belgium in 1980. Globally, Alpro makes non-genetically modified, plant-based products such as foods and drinks made from soy, almonds, hazelnuts, cashew, rice, oats and coconut. In South Africa, the Alpro almond milk and soya milk range is 100% plant-based, naturally lactose free, contains added vitamins and calcium and is available in sweetened and unsweetened variants.

Unilever’s largest food brand Knorr last year unveiled The Future 50 Foods – a report written with WWF, detailing plant-based foods that can boost the nutritional value of meals while reducing the environmental impact of its food supply. Knorr plans a 25% increase in the number of products featured by 2025. This is a significant commitment and comes amid huge dietary shifts toward plant-based eating and sustainability trends that are pushing industry to produce more planet-friendly products. Beans, pulses, cacti, algae, mushrooms, fruit, root vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, sprouts and tubers all feature heavily, with more plant-based ingredients added in the coming years as Knorr sharpens its focus on sustainable food.

ProVeg is an international food awareness organisation, with an active South African chapter, working to transform the global food system by replacing conventional animal-based products with plant-based and cultivated alternatives. It works with international decision-making bodies, governments, food producers, investors, the media and the general public to help the world transition to a society and economy that is less dependent on animal agriculture and more sustainable for humans, animals and the planet. ProVeg has permanent observer status with UNFCCC, is accredited for UNEA and has received the United Nations’ Momentum for Change Award.

Food Lover’s Market is South Africa’s premier fresh destination, with over 135 Food Lover’s Market stores in Sub-Saharan countries and Mauritius. As the leading fresh produce retailer in South Africa, it prides itself on its quality fresh produce, its theatre-of-food experience with a distinctive market feel and its consistent value offerings for the consumer. Food Lover’s Market caters to the discerning customer, the connoisseur, the professional ‘foodie’ and regular customers who are used to the exceptional quality and variety that has always been part of the Food Lover’s Market offering.

Over the years, B-well has established itself as a premium brand offering consumers healthier alternative oil-based products. Its products are renowned for being of the highest quality, whilst always using innovation to cater for consumers ever changing needs.

The Wellness Warehouse, established in 2007, is the combined inspiration of brothers Sean (a medical doctor) and Carlos (a retail expert) Gomes. With their combined skills in retail and medicine, they created the first store in South Africa with the sole purpose of offering a comprehensive list of health and wellness products to help live life well. Their approach is one that is holistic and transformative, with an emphasis on sustainability. They believe that wellness is a way of existing in the world that permeates every aspect of our lifestyle.

The Festive Vegan & Plant Powered Show will play host to a wide range of plant-based food and lifestyle brands who will be featured in a virtual expo area. Exhibitors will have the option to select a booth package tailormade for them. This professional integrated platform offers exhibitors an opportunity to have their own expo booth from which they can broadcast live or embed a pre-recorded video. They can chat live with visitors while audiences will also be directed to the exhibitor’s online shop for purchases.

It will feature a host of international and local chefs – including a yet-to-be-revealed finalist from last year’s MasterChef Australia and the UK’s leading vegan chef Gaz Oakley – as well as cooking demos, expert talks, special appearances, entertainment, The Great Big Festive Vegan Banquet and networking sessions.
